First Fyrinnae Haul - Part I.
Posted by: Viki in blush, eyeshadow, Fyrinnae, Lip Lustre, lipgloss, make-up, mineral make-up, primerThis post will have to begin the same way that all other "first-Fyrinnae-haul" posts do:
I knew I was going to love their products, and I ended up being right. Some of you probably know by now that I'm a huge lipgloss junkie, but Fyrinnae are doing everything they can to turn me into an eyeshadow aficionado. Also, they've convinced me to expand Binary Star's technical potential and use my camera's video recording feature to show you how insanely sparkly one of their eyeshadows, Dokkálfar, is.
I can only show you one of them though, because as soon as I finished recording, the sun decided to take a well-deserved rest and hid behind the approaching stormclouds. More eyeshadow swatches to come in Part II.
Please excuse the quality of the video, but I was too excited to care about things like a script, angle or artistic vision. :) It is blurry on purpose though: the lack of proper focus allows me to show you the sparkles better.
Dokkálfar was, by the way, a free sample the guys at Fyrinnae threw in with my order. I was actually thinking of ordering it, but eventually decided to hold off and get it next time. (See? Even back then I knew there'd be a next time.) Anyway, it's a gorgeous, dark moss-green with lime, grass-green and turquoise sparkles, which, despite the crazy amount of sparkle, I can actually see wearing during the daytime as a liner to spice up my otherwise laid-back makeup. It's kind of like powdered hematite and pirite mixed together. :-)
I did get some other things too. In fact, here's my haul:

What I got from Fyrinnae:
- Lip Lustres in Visual Kei, Lollipop Pop, Romantique and Lickable
- Pixie Epoxy sample
- Velvel-Gel Silica Primer
- Blushes in Enchant and Mesmerize
- Eyeshadows in Changeling, Herbivore, Envy Me, Equality, Immortality, Bastet and Beholder
- Arcane Magic Eyeshadow in Dark Fantasy
It's been a long time since I was so happy with a make-up haul. It makes me wonder why I stuck to EDM for such a long time when it came to eyeshadows and blushes. Sure, blushes are not Fyrinnae's primary products, but those 12 Glow Blushes that Fyrianne has will beat those of EDM (and other companies) anytime. I'm especially fond of Enchant: it looks scary in the jar, and even more scary in the picture as it somehow came out all orange-looking, but trust me that when you apply it with a skunk brush, it'll give your cheeks a beautiful coral glow just like its name suggests.
Fyrinnae's eyeshadows... I don't even know where to begin. One thing's sure: they are unique and are of exceptional quality. I was a bit skeptical about them first, but now that I've seen them with my own eyes, I probably won't be shopping for new eyeshadows anywhere else. The colors are very pigmented, intense, and look as if they'd magically been extracted from a peacock's feathers. :-) You have to try them to see what I mean, and I promise you, you won't be disappointed if you do.
They come in two sizes:
- sample size (a very generous 1/3 teaspoonful that'll last you for ages) for 2 USD
- full size for 5.9 USD
Their Velvet-Gel Silica Primer is another thing that made me jump with joy the moment I tried it: first off, it doesn't contain silicones. If that's not something to be happy about then I don't know what is. My skin hates silicones, and while I have found a very decent priming product sans silicones in Alverde's Tagesfluid Perle, I could very well do without all the oils in it. Fyrinnae's primer contains Aloe Vera juice, silica (totally not the same as silicone) and some gel-forming agent. It'll probably also last me ages, as it's possible to apply on wet skin, and even when applied to dry skin, you need the smallest amount. It creates a perfect, smooth canvas for my foundation and keeps the oilies at bay for a much longer time than anything I've ever tried before. I'll have to perfect its use though as it also tends to dry out my skin a bit, but I'll probably be able to solve that by applying it over a thin layer of moisturizer.

Of course, having read so many raves about Pixie Epoxy, I just had to get a sample. I was hesitating between a sample and a full size, but I'm glad I ended up buying the smaller size: you need so little of the product to cover an eyelid (think smaller that a poppy-seed) that the sample will last me very long.

Pixie Epoxy is not an eyeshadow primer. I can attest to that, as I tried using it as one and it's obviously not in the same league with my beloved Artdeco Eyeshadow Base. What it does, however, is make all that fooling around with water and mixing medium when foiling your eyeshadows a thing of the past. Just apply a tiny amount of the gel to your eyelid, smear it, let it dry a bit until it's sticky and brush on your eyeshadow (brushing is better than patting in PE's case). It makes a world of difference:
Being the self-professed lippie junkie that I am, I just have to share Fyrinnae's Lip Lustres with you. They are, indeed, not lipglosses in the traditional sense of the word. They really are more like lip tints, but very yummy and moisturizing ones. You can apply a tiny amount and top it with lipbalm or gloss if you only want a slight tint, or you can apply them as you normally would a gloss and they'll cover your lips in bright colors in no time as they're very opaque and will look the same on your lips as they do in the tube. The texture is nice and I guess I could say that these are to regular lipglosses what mineral foundation is to liquid foundation: sort of velvety and barely-there, they feel almost as if I didn't have anything on my lips.
Some of my color choices turned out to be a bit unfortunate, but I'll never blame Fyrinnae for that. I mean what the h*ll was I thinking getting a bright pink lippie??? (Visual Kei anyone?) Especially knowing that it'd be opaque... Okay, so I was in the mood for something bright and cheerful, but I really should have known better... :-)))

Visual Kei: The brightest of them all, sort of fuchsia with slight bluish shimmer. Not my thing, but I'll probably be using it as a tint under lipbalm.
Romantique: Again, not the best choice for my skintone. It's too light and washes me out, but will probably look nice over something else.
Lollipop-Pop: It looks sort of like a toned-down Visual Kei. Medium pink with blue shimmer and looks a lot cooler in real life than on Fyrinnae's website. I'll be able to wear this on its own.
Lickable: Okay, this is my favorite. :-) A pinkish golden-brown, quite complex although it looks unassuming in the tube. It makes my lips lighter than they are, gives them a subtle golden sheen and is perfect combined with a brown smoky eye or any sort of green eye makeup.
Also, what the heck??? Lickable is nowhere to be found on Fyrinnae's website anymore! What gives? *scratches head*
Oh, and another thing: Fyrinnae's Lip Lustres smell and taste delicious. I like the scent of Romantique the best (I mean I could sniff it all day), but all the others are equally mouth-watering.
Fyrinnae's Lip Lustres come in two sizes:
- 3 ml for 2.5 USD
- 5.8 ml for 4.5 USD
Both sizes come with doefoot applicators, and while I'm not fond of those, I understand why they would be picked for this product. Brushes just wouldn't work with this texture.

All in all, I'm ridiculously happy with my Fyrinnae haul and will definitely order from them again. As the Hungarian Forint has plummeted thanks to the financial crisis in Greece, that order will have to wait a bit, but I already have my wishlist full and can hardly wait to try some more of Fyrinnae's eyeshadows, Lip Lustres and blushes. I will also order a full size from their Velvet-Gel Silica Primer. ;-)
Have you ever tried Fyrinnae? What's your opinion? Have their products managed to bewitch you just as much?
Finally, here are some more swatches of the Lip Lustres.

Fan and I have been writing each other for a while and promised gifts for the other's birthday. I had mine last Friday, so yesterday I got to be the ecstatic recipient of a lovely package from Belgium full of goodies. :-)
This is the third package I got from Fan (here are the first and second), and as usual its contents blew me away.
What I got:
- A letter. A heartfelt, beautiful, handwritten letter. You don't get those very often now, do you? And it's a shame too, because while e-mails are great, there's just something about handwritten letters that adds a whole new level of "awesome" to one's life.
- A Stila Lip Glaze in Mandarin Mist
Stila is not available in Hungary (does it even surprise anyone at all anymore...?), so you can imagine how excited I was to find this among my gifts. And you can probably also guess how difficult it is for me not to tell you all about it right now, but I'm planning to dedicate an entire post to each item I got, so you'll have to bear with me a little longer. - A blush by HEMA
Fan has already written a post about it, so if you're really curious (which you should be), then you can read about this product here. For now, let it be enough that it's every bit as great as Fan said it would be. :-) - A Labello lip balm with star fruit and dragon fruit extracts
I'm risking a lot here when I tell you that my first reaction was: "Ooookay...Labello. Right." Cause we kinda have it in Hungary, and I've had some not-so-pleasant experiences with the brand about five (or more) years ago.
Let me just quickly make amends for my cheek before Fan gets really angry with me and tell you that she knows her stuff when it comes to cosmetics and that this Labello is not the Labello of five years ago. In fact, this stuff is so good that after only two days of using it continuously (yeah, I kinda couldn't get enough of that juicy scent) I can wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone who's looking for a good, reliable lip-balm for the summer. (There's added SPF, baby.)
So please Fan, don't hate me for my initial reaction: I've been keeping your name in my prayers ever since I tried this balm. *hug* - A lovely necklace with a gorgeous blue crystal surrounded by silvery stars that twinkle with each tiny little movement I make. To me, it symbolizes my love of stars, of endless space, and a literary genre that strives to wrap up the infinite and hand it to us on a
silveryplasteel plate: science-fiction. - Some nice sheets of paper I can use to try my hands at origami. I should probably start with something easy and not be crazy enough to attempt the Kawasaki Rose, but then again, that Rose smells like a challenge. ^_^
Don't you fret for a minute over the brevity of this post: I'm planning to spend this week and the next with telling you about each of Fan's gifts in a separate post. ;-) There's going to be pictures, lots of details, ingredients lists and all sorts of other juicy stuff to keep you entertained. ^_^
No, I haven't forgotten. Like I ever could. :-)
You've truly made my birthday a special time of year with your letter, your thoughtful (and perfect) gifts and with just being my friend. *hug*
Silk Naturals Haul (Swatches)
Posted by: Viki in blush, eyeshadow, lipgloss, make-up, mineral make-up, Silk Naturals, swatchOMG, girls it's snowing here!!!
Okay, it was snowing a few hours ago when I started writing this post, but by the time I wrapped myself up and got outside it had already stopped. We still have a thin white layer of frozen snow covering the park in front of our house though so that'll keep me happy for a good while. :-)
It's been a long time since I showed you new swatches, but I got my first ever Silk Naturals haul last week and have been using their products since then, so I think I can tell you about them now.
It was my first oder from them so I didn't want to get a lot of stuff, just enough to sample the things I was really interested in.
What I was curious about:
- SN's solid lip-gloss: you know I can't bear to leave any company's glosses untested so of course I had to buy one of these.
- Blushes: I used to disregard this particular kind of make-up item in the past, but Bourjois and EDM have both made me see the reason behind using just a little bit every morning to combat the pallor caused by a not-so-well-performing blood circulation.
- Eye-shadow: while it's still not my fav make-up product, I really enjoy being able to try a huge variety of colors for a relatively low price thanks to mineral makeup companies and their sample programs.
What I skipped:
- Foundation (+ other face stuff): my skin and I still shudder at the mere mention of EDM's foundations and it's still on its way to recover from a year-long temper tantrum most likely caused by hormonal imbalances, so I'd rather not risk it just yet... (Or ever, for that matter.)
- Mascara: still being head over heels with Clinique's Naturally Glossy Mascara in Jet Brown I don't feel the need to experiment here either.
- Brushes: I am interested, but I really have to think about what I spend my money on, what with the current financial turmoil and the weak Forint. Maybe next time...
GOLD BLUSH
(organic lip-gloss)
If you take a look at the swatch itself and the lip-gloss in the tube you'll immediately notice a glaring discrepancy between the two. How could something so dark leave such a colorless, transparent mark on my skin, you ask? Well, I have no idea really. I know that when I pulled off
the cap I was immediately overcome with annoyance thinking: "Oh wonderful, here's the second wrong item this month..." I gave it a try anyway, and to my surprise I found that it is indeed Gold Blush as it left a glossy, very slightly pink and very strongly golden trail on my hand. Go figure...
Anyway, onto the really important stuff: just like Grayburn (whose excellent post inspired me to order from SN), I too adore my SN lippie as it makes the delicate skin on my lips really soft and shiny. I like SN's much better than EDM's lip-glosses, as those tend to feel powdery and thick sometimes (not to mention the way they taste and smell...), whereas this one is smooth and light with relatively no taste and a pleasant vanilla-rose fragrance.
I think this was the perfect first lip-gloss from this brand: it's quite inconspicuous, can be worn alone or over some other lip color, it's perfect with a smoky eye look when I don't want to emphasize my lips, but it's still not just an average colorless lip-gloss, as it has a very sheer rosy tint and gorgeous golden shimmer.
Perhaps the only thing I don't like about this gloss is how thin it is. I have pretty small lips and even I experience some slight discomfort when I try to apply it in a hurry: I need much more swipes to cover my lips than with any other lip product. I can only imagine what others with fuller lips have to endure...
That, however, will not stop me from ordering more. I'd really like to own: Berry Crush, Darling, Foreplay, Rare Berry, Sweet Nothing, Tender, and Toffee. For a start. :-D
By the way, I immediately got rid of the white sticker on the tube, and now I have a sleek, black tube instead. This will, however, become a problem the minute my other SN glosses arrive. :-)

BASALT
(eye-shadow)
I've had many brown eye-shadows in my life (more than I should have actually), but can you believe it when I say I hadn't had a proper dark brown, matte eye-shadow (perfect for creating a warm smoky eye) until I got Basalt? I know, it's ridiculous. I had stuff with all kinds of shimmer in them, pearly ones, and of course the ones that gave me buyer's remorse the minute I put them on at home as they were never dark enough for my liking.
Now, however, I have a 5 g jar of the perfect dark eye-shadow for me: the SN website describes this as a very warm black shade, a clone of Bobbi Brown's Espresso (part of her Stonewashed Nudes palette), and essentially that's just what it is. The site also compares it to ground coffee but I beg to disagree: for me, coffee beans and ground coffee have a slightly yellow undertone, which this eye-shadow does not have, thank heavens. It's more like chocolate really: warm, very dark, and very versatile too. It's easy to take just a small amount and use it to shade your lids, or use more to line your eyes, or you can even wet it and give your eyes a stunning contour.
For me, the 5 g jar packed almost to the brim is perfectly enough as I tend to use a bit of eye-shadow every now and then, but I don't go though them like candy.
(eye-shadow)

Hmm, I'm afraid I don't have much to say about this shade other than it's a very curious one with a white base and pink-blue (sort of holographic) shimmer. It does remind me of the stone opal with its ever changing colors, but it's not something I usually go for, and even a free sample couldn't convince me of its usefulness. I don't even consider it a proper highlight shade as it's too colorful for that purpose and just a bit too flashy. It's lovely to look at, I admit, but I cannot see myself wearing this anytime soon. Sorry! If you have it and like it, do let me know: I don't want to be the only one with an opinion here.

FLIRT
(blush)
What can I say? A lovely dusty-rose color and as such, a perfect everyday blush. Very silky and smooth and as far as I can tell it has much better staying power that those of EDM, meaning I can still see it at the end of a long working day.
(Okay, it may seem that I'm on a roll against EDM, but that's not the case really, nor is it the novelty of the Silk Naturals stuff which makes me like their stuff more than that of EDM. I still say EDM makes very good make-up, but they're really not the only brand of MMU out there and also, I've never really been known for my fidelity. :-P I like to experiment. A lot.)
Silk Naturals describes this as a matte neutral plum blush, and although I do detect a small amount of shimmer when looking into the lid of the jar, it's not visible on my cheeks at all. About its "plumness": nope, sorry, for me "plum" means a certain kind of warmth, whereas this one is more pale and neutral (almost on the cool side of the scale). Nonetheless, it's a lovely shade, even though it's not what you'd call "exciting".
WISH YOU WERE HERE
(blush)
The first ever blush to remind me of everyone's (now-) favorite blush from EDM, Chit Chat. WYWH, of course, is no exact match for Chit Chat, but something about it just reminds me of EDM's poor discontinued blush. I think it's that it gives your cheeks the same scintillation and that same unrivalled glow, making you look alive and healthy the minute you put it on.
Some differences though:
- Chit Chat has tons of silver sparkle, WYWH has less and they're pink.
- Chit Chat has this raspberry-ish undertone compared to WYWH which is more sort of strawberry.
- WYWG is much more sheer and you need to use more to achieve the same effect than with Chit Chat.
All in all, if you had problems with EDM's strong, heavily pigmented blushes, you might want to give Silk Naturals' blushes a try as they're much easier to work with due to their sheerness and the lower dosage of sparkle they contain.
What I'm looking forward to now is to have my Pure Luxe samples delivered to me. (Any time now..)
I mostly ordered eye-shadows, so my post on them should be a colorful one. :-)
EDIT (2009/12/30): Meanwhile, here are all my subsequent Silk Naturals reviews (with swatches in each).
(The Long Awaited) Fourth Everyday Minerals Haul + Swatches
Posted by: Viki in blush, Everyday Minerals, eyeshadow, lipgloss, make-up, mineral make-up, swatchObviously I haven't blogged in ages and I haven't even shown you my latest and biggest Everyday Minerals haul which arrived more than two weeks ago (Heavens, has it really been two weeks???) even though I've been dying to.
Which can only mean one thing.
Yup, I've finally got a job! Yaaaaaay!!!
I work as an English teacher for a language school which sends out teachers to companies. I teach both plain and business English, but I only have 9 classes so far (each being one and a half hours long). I'd need at least twenty a week in order to be able to make a decent living and move out, but both client managers I work with promised to give me more classes soon so that's okay.
Oh and guess what: it's 20 °C degrees here in Hungary (= 68 Fahrenheit degrees) and on Sunday my Mum and I made a small trip to your summer cottage where I actually acquired a tan! For the first time since fall I don't look like a wraith...
In other news: I'm now listening to my favorite songs with my brand new Sennheiser HD 555 headphones. The old one (a Panasonic) finally broke about two months ago and I've been planning to get Sennheiser headphones for ages to eventually replace the Panasonic so I'm really happy my parents bought it for me for my B-Day. It's comfortable, its sound quality is amazing and it doesn't intensify the bass range so much as to dim the singer's voice. I love it! This is what it looks like in real life: the HD 555 on Wiki. It has a slight golden coloring instead of being completely steel gray (or black) which I also love: it's very elegant and unique.
Now, onto the fun stuff!
Here's a reminder of what I ordered from Everyday Minerals about three weeks ago. (By the way, I was very happy with EM's packaging time: they sent my package out mere hours after I had placed my order.)
I got my makeup in a small box, most of which was filled with squiggly paper stripes: that's a good thing as it means that all the stuff at the bottom was kept secure and didn't roll around the box during its way here. The jars were rolled up in paper as usual, and of course some of them had leaked during the journey and my first job was to secure the lids and clean up any spilled dust that had found its way out of the jars. (Again, as usual...)
Altogether I can say that I'm very happy with the stuff I got, although there were some surprises (both kinds, I guess) most of which are probably my fault.
Also, I didn't take shots of the foundations because they're the same colors (Olive Fair and Light Olive) as before.
Oh, by the way, I'm very disappointed that Chit Chat has been discontinued by Everyday Minerals. It's a truly beautiful blush and I was actually planning to order a 2.5 g size jar of it next.
My previous Everyday Minerals posts with swatches:

Random Tidbits
My Second EM Haul
My Third EM Haul
And now, without further ado:
I so knew I would love this! :-) It's soft and smooth, glides on easily and moisturizes my lips very nicely. Color-wise I still think it's a bit pale for me (or maybe it's just that this particular shade doesn't go well with olive skin), leaning slightly to the pink side and somewhat covering the natural color of my lips, but I enjoy using it every day and prefer it to my colorless Alverde lip-balm. Yes, I'm comparing it to my lip-balm because that's what it really is: a balm instead of real lip-gloss. It can be glossy if you apply it very thickly and thoroughly, but I don't really like doing that as I like to keep things sheer and make them work with my own natural tones. (= The color of my lips in this case.)
You might want to be careful about where you apply it to though: this will probably emphasize the cracks and creases if your lips are very chapped.
Next time I think will try Copper and Girl's Day.
'SPARKLE BRONZER'
"A deeper bronze color with a fine hint of sparkle.
Ideal for light to tan complexions." /EM/
Everyday Minerals offers three bronzers, a very light matte shade (Soft Bronzer), a medium shade (Everyday Bronzer, also matte), and this one, Sparkle Bronzer, a dark, and let's face it, very sparkly, bronzer. I think I could actually use this as an eye-shadow, what with all the iridescent shimmery bits it contains. When I first tried this (that was when I was still as pale as a ghost) I thought I wouldn't be able to use this: it seemed so dark and shimmery. Things have changed since then, however, and now I'm pretty sure that this will look great in the summer when I have a much darker tan (or have a tan at all) and if I apply it with a light hand. You see, it's really amazing how big a difference a slight change in my skintone makes. :-)
(About the pictures: they're quite big when you click on them, and I also decided to take an unfocused shot of each that contains shimmer because that way you can see much better what color the shimmer is and how much there is in the product.)

'COOKIE SHEET' BLUSH
"An irresistible pale plum with delicate silver sparkle and russet sheen.
Wonderful for day and evening wear." /EM/
This blush is somewhat similar to Photo Album in that it's a cool mauvey shade too, but while PA has slight raspberry-ish tones and looks as if it has a teensy-weensy bit of red in it, this looks purely mauve in the jar.
However, after I've buffed it into my skin, it changes color a bit and gives my cheeks a very nice and natural tint which doesn't look artificial or lilac at all. I think I can safely say that I made a good choice when I ordered Cookie Sheet.

'APPLE' BLUSH
"Soft autumn pink and rose shade.
Matte to pearl finish.
Ideal for fair to medium complexions." /EM/
It does have a tiny amount of fine shimmer in it ("pearl finish"), just enough for it to light your face up and make it glow a bit.
By the way, do check out Grayburn's post on her Everyday Minerals stuff if you want to read more about this color, Cookie Sheet and several other great products.

"A warm rosy blush and face color
that adds just the right amount of natural color to your complexion.
Ideal for fair to medium skintones." /EM/
No regrets here at all. In fact, this has turned out to be one of my favorite blushes from EM. It has much less terracotta (if any) than Deep Wine, it's lighter too, and gives my cheeks a bit of that healthy farm girl look mentioned above without making them look fake. (Fake in the sense that Apple does not look natural on me!)
It's warm and it's rosy, so basically it's everything I want from a blush! :-)
Note to self: order a 2.5 g size just in case it disappears!

'SUNLIGHT' CONCEALER
"Perfect for the under-eye area.
Reduces the appearance of dark under-eye circles and puffiness." /EM/
I'm not impressed with this concealer. For a couple of hours after application this does cover up dark circles under my eyes but then it just turns cakey and it's not very difficult to spot that I'm wearing concealer instead of sleeping enough.
Maybe I'll use it as an eye shadow: it's sheer but lightens up my eyes.

'WILD FLOWERS' EYE SHADOW
"An elegant medium taupe color with a silky matte finish." /EM/
I've been wanting a true matte taupe eye shadow for ages so after I got to know EM I jumped at the opportunity and ordered myself one. It's nice, but you should use it with a light hand otherwise it'll end up being too dark and having more pink/rose/orange/terracotta (Pick one.) than you'd expect a true taupe to possess. Still, it's the obvious choice on days when you don't want any flashy sparkles and just want to look professional.
I guess I could say that my quest for the perfect taupe eye shadow continues. (Any tips where I could find one? :-)

'DIARY' EYE SHADOW
"A timeless soft lavender with a smooth hint of shimmer
that goes well with all skin types as well as moods." /EM/
I ordered this because:
- I have greenish brown eyes and purples, lilacs and violets are the best if you want to bring out the green in your eyes,
- I wanted a lighter such shade beside Starry Eyed and Shopping Spree (mentioned below, both having purple undertones),
- I've never had a lavender colored eye shadow before and I was in a very daring mood at the time I placed my order.
Most likely Diary shall remain my one and only lavender colored eye shadow, not because it's so amazing (it's very pretty though), but because I now know why I've never purchased one until now. Diary itself is actually a beautiful shade with tons of golden sparkles but I just don't think this particular shade does anything for me (or my eyes). Nevertheless, I'm pretty sure I'll be wearing it during the summer. (It doesn't make me look worse after all.) Again, you see, this would look so much better on tanned skin.

"A rich dark brown with a beautiful collection of silver sparkle
that makes for a wonderful eye shadow
for those extra special days or
a night out with friends or family." /EM/
Starry Eyed is, in my opinion, for dark skinned women as it is a very dark brown with bluish shimmer that would look stunning on women of color or tan eyelids. Even darker than In The Garden so I can only use this sparingly even as an eyeliner.

'SHOPPING SPREE' EYE SHADOW
"A deeper plum rose shade with an enchanting emerald sheen." /EM/
The only reason I hadn't ordered this until three weeks ago was that every time I was about to add it to my shopping cart I chickened out thinking it would be too dark/too flashy/too bold/to weird/too whatever.
When I first opened the jar, sprinkled some on the lid and applied it to my lids I was like: "So it is flashy, weird, sparkly and lots of other things too. So it's officially only meant to be worn on nights out or parties. Right... So WHO THE HELL CARES???? I want the biggest jar EM can offer and I want it now!!!"
Yeah, I loved it that much and I still do. :-) It's one of the most intriguing shades I've ever come across, one that definitely cannot be found at makeup counters. In the pot, it looks gray and matte, but once you sprinkle some onto the lid of the jar you notice the sparkles, and when finally you apply it to your skin it is in full glory and becomes the eye shadow Everyday Minerals promised to send you: a beautiful dark "plum-rose shade with emerald sheen". You can actually distinguish lots of plum-rose colored particles if you look close enough, and it's even visible on the third picture below.
On my eyelids it looks like a plummy taupe with those lovely emerald sparkles to top it all off.
I simply couldn't capture its beauty on photos and I'm sorry about that but I urge anyone who is planning to order from Everyday Minerals to give it a go.

Check out all my Everyday Minerals related posts too to see more swatches and read about them.
It's been quite a while, but believe me, I haven't been sitting around doing nothing. I actually had some more time and money to hunt down great new products from Bourjois. I have the things I was oohing and aahing about in my last entry, and I also found some discounted (and in some cases, discontinued) lipglosses from my favourite French cosmetics line.
Let's take a look at the more pricey items I got:
This here is the best ever eye-shadow I've ever owned: it is called Rose Tentation and it is a single eyeshadow from their Ombre au Paupiéres line. On the picture the color looks much icier that it actually is: it is a lovely pink shade with lots of fine golden glitter in it, and it looks simply amazing on me and accentuates my greenish brown eyes.
Okay, now this little baby is my other fav.
It's Bourjois' signature blush in shade No 33 called Lilas D'Or (meaning 'Golden Lily'). It's a beautifully warm rose color again with golden shimmer in it. Believe me, it looks great in sunlight and as spring is finally here we have plenty of that.
Let's turn our attention to lipglosses then. From left to right:
Ocre Rythmic (59): This is such a gorgeous shade of aged gold and it's really not as strong as it looks on the scan. It's more of a light layer of shimmering gold on our lips when we put it on really, and it's a perfectly wearable shade due to its sheerness.
Praline Ludic (17): This here is the bronze one, and it is actually very much like Caramel Ethnic, with the only difference that it has shimmer in it, and is somewhat lighter and more sheer than the caramel colored one.Yet again, we have a wearable shade here which, if we have tanned skin, looks even more fabulous.
Orange Synthetic (8): Good Lord, now this one does look horrific when you look at it both in the picture and in real life. I too was very reluctant to buy it, as I never imagined I would be able to use it. Or anyone, for that matter. However, I read some reviews on MakeupAlley, and was soon convinced that it's not as bad as it looks, it's not harsh at all once we apply it and it looks brilliant in the summer with bronze colored skin.
Rose Cosmic (12): Okay, I'm till not so sure about this one, but it's basically an electric pink, only it's somewhat toned down and gives much less coverage than others of its kind, which is exactly what I perfer. Still, I guess by mixing it with a pink one, I'll be able to create a kind of 'berry' shade that looks good on darker skin.
That's it for today, but I'm planning to get back to Bourjois very soon. Stay tuned! :-)
