Lo and behold my first ever giveaway, sponsored by 21st Century Formulations! I'm really excited to be able to give my friends and readers a gift, and I hope that whoever wins will be happy with the prize. :)

Starting today, one lucky gal (or guy) can win the same package I got from 21st Century Formulations, containing a full size Skin MD Shielding Lotion and some extra and very generous samples.

Although their giveaways are usually restricted to the territory of the United States, 21th Century Formulations have kindly allowed the giveaway to be open internationally as I have many European and Asian readers.

The giveaway starts on Sunday 21 March and I'll announce the winner on Monday 29 March at 07 AM GMT.

The winner will be picked with the help of, and contacted by 21st Century Formulations in order to discuss shipping. I will, therefore, ask the lucky winner to provide an e-mail address by writing me at [@] gmail [.] com. Your e-mail address will be handled confidentially and will not be handed over to any third party other than 21st Century Formulations.

Hey Izar :) Congratulations for your first giveaway, I'll write about it on my blog :) (although that means less chances for me to win, haha).
This Shielding lotion seems really interesting. They claim to have a moisturising agent 6 time greater than glycerin, which is the strandard against all humectants are measured.
I'd like to try it! :)
I think the email i subscribed with is ioana.stiubeianu [at] gmail (.) com
Have a nice day!

Thanks Epurica for the shout-out! :-)

You're in the contest. ;-)

I am a follower and I learned that

A Shielding Lotion is far more effective as a dry skin treatment than conventional moisturizing lotions or protective creams.

Hey Angela!

I'm so glad you entered! Good luck! :-)

please enter me ;) I al a follower ;)

There are thousands of skin irritants in our modern environment that didn't exist only 50 years ago. These irritants can strip the protective barrier off your skin causing dry skin, eczema and other skin problems. These changes in our environment have brought about the need for a new type of dry skin care solution – a shielding lotion.

Gotcha SummerBabe! :-) You're in the contest, good luck!

Still visit this giveaway daily to check out the competition hee hee :)
I really hope I win, couse i'm really in need of something very hydrating (decided to go on tretinoin to treat some bumps growing under my skin, and you know how skin can get all flaky and dry). Been trying something from Alverde that I absolutely hated, Olay broke me out so I'm really afraid to try anything new. Meh, I'll probably end out buying it if I don't win, but keeping my fingers crossed! :D

Hey Epurica!

This might very well treat that dryness you're experiencing, 'cause it definitely relieved mine, but if Olay broke you out (their stuff is full of silicones), then this might be a bit risky too. Do you know how well your skin tolerates silicones?

I have no idea :) I don't usually use natural (or bio, or organic, i have no idea what the difference is) creams for hydrating, so i've probably always used silicones :D I was thinking of trying coconut oil also, I wonder how that is...

Epurica, one tool that's proved to be invaluable for me in getting rid of flaky skin is a thing called "microfiber cloth". I bought mine in a grocery store (Spar), and cut it up into approx. 10x10cm pieces. Every morning I wash my face with my foaming cleanser and gently but thoroughly rub my face with this cloth. It gets rid of those skin cells that are on the verge of coming off and makes my skin smooth despite the peeling that tretinoin causes. It's soft and doesn't irritate my skin at all. (It used to just a bit in the beginning, but it was nothing I couldn't handle.)

It's a real lifesaver, and I think it's even essential that we do some very gentle physical exfoliation, because tretinoin only loosens the upper layer of our skin, but we still have to remove all those dead skin-cells somehow. Just my theory. ^_^

If you don't use organic stuff on your face, then you've probably indeed always used silicones of some kind, in which case the Shielding Lotion might work perfectly with your skin.

Coconut oil is lovely, but I read that it's somewhat comedogenic, so I haven't dared to use it on my face yet.

Wow, you just saved me from wasting money on coconut oil :) Indeed, I checked a few lists with comedogenic ingredients, and it seems coconut oil is very high on those lists. I'll definetly pass!
What I do find funny is that mineral oil as well as petrolatum (your average vaseline) are rated as 0 - non comedogenic, and I've always heard people warning against mineral oil.
I was actually thinking between jojoba oil, coconut oil and grapeseed oil, and decided on coconut because it's solid at room temperature :D After reading your post I checked all three oils, and it seems only jojoba has a low comedogenic grade, so I'm probably gonna go with that!
Thanks again!
